Running and jumping his way out the house trying to put his shoes on. A piece of toast in his mouth and determination in his eyes. Noah would bounce his way out waving good bye to his parents and almost falling over with every step he took. He had gone to their house to have breakfast before heading for what would technically count as his first day as a Ranger. He couldn't be late, he wouldn't be late. The sun beaming down as the young Ranger ran at the direction of the beach side where the Ranger Station was situated. Chomping on the buttered up toast like it might have been his last meal.

Unsure if today was one of the hottest days he had felt or that he was starting to overheat from anticipation, exercising or because the sun was actually trying to cook him alive. He was sure that the kitchen at the restaurant wouldn't even be this hot right now. He would keep moving. Won't stop, never stop.

Noah had been told to head directly to the outdoors training facility and that was exactly what he was doing right now. Arriving he would come to a full stop before entering. Taking a death breath and trying to calm himself before facing his future. Taking his first step into the facility. Instantly been met with a small introduction and his assignment for the day. "Oh... Ok. Hi..." Noah fumbled his way into the words like a slow-motion car crash. "Uh sure. I think I can handle that." Weren't Snorlax famously known to be almost invincible to wake up? So yes he did have a question.

"You guys don't happen to have a Poke flute laying around, right?" It might have sounded like a sassy question but he was being fully honest. From the studies, reading and just overall knowledge that was the only thing that could wake up a sleep Snorlax.

Had Noah expected that his first day as the Ranger would be doing a trial with the world's most nonchalant and serious person. Luckily Noah had enough self control to not scream out "cool!" at how direct and simple the orders were. At first it had felt a bit rushed but his whole morning had been one rush after the other and now that the nerves were calming down and the nerves were at normal levels Noah could see the authority that was Tam.

Hearing that there was no flute, Noah would curse himself before trying to regain some composure. "Ok ok ok ok... No flute." Putting his hands on his hips and looking at the sleeping snorlax and then back at the sky and then back at the snorlax. Taking two steps to the side and then back again. Putting his hand on his chin as if waiting for a light bulb to appear on the top of his head. "I'm Noah by the way! I didn't introduce myself earlier but yeah... Just Noah is good." The poor boy's brain was still going at 100 miles per minute while trying to catch up with his more relaxed body.

Noah would tap on his pokeballs and quickly stop as soon as Tam spoke up again giving him what felt like the last hint or order depending how he was to look at it. "Does the big fella have a name?" Noah would say turning around and noticing Tam had moved from the last spot he had seen the man in. Quickly scanning the place to find him now sitting on a plastic chair under the blessings of a birch tree.

"Anything? Hmmmmmm..." Noah would say out loud but mostly to himself. The sound of the opening can snapping him back to reality. He really had no idea how to do this. He had no idea what to even expect on the inside of a ranger station. Maybe he could use some confiscated goods? Fireworks maybe? Anything that could make loud sounds. He would definitely not try anything that could potentially harm the pokemon. Time to step into the world of the unknown and improvise, adapt and overcome.

Just Snorlax huh. Noah would think that was interesting, there were several reasons someone wouldn't name their pokemon but he'd try not to judge someone on any of those reasons, he wasn't here to offend, he was here to impress! But that did ruin one of his initial ideas. He thought that maybe calling out the pokemon's name might trigger it's brain from waking up... Along with other loud noises of course since it was a Snorlax. So that was a small bust even though he could still call out to Snorlax but it was much more likely to fail now, unfortunate circumstances but very understandable.

As Tam would confirm that Noah could use anything in the station he would step in to look for items that could perhaps help him accomplish his goal. Heading straight into the kitchen. His first idea would be just banging pans and pots together but what if this was a big brain play from Tam, what if the superior ranked Ranger already knew that Noah worked at a restaurant and wanted the young Ranger to play to his strengths. Tam also had his own drink with him, could that have been a hint too? Likely not due to the overwhelming heat that was out today. Before touching any of the food noah wanted permission since that was a way more personal thing than just items.

Peeking out from the window Noah would wave towards Tam trying to get his attention. "Does anything also count towards any leftover food and pokemon snacks if I find anything?" Way more likely for him to find pokemon snacks since they took longer to go bad compared to normal food but knowing how people worked he also knew that he might find good leftovers, very common thing in a shared workplace that had a good amount of people working in for long hours, even if the kitchen was just a cafeteria he would be able to whip something up, perhaps even for him and Tam.

"And may I also grab a drink!?" Noah would ask with the biggest smile on his face. It was way to warm even inside a building.

Noah's smile slowly faded as Tam stared into his soul, the real stare of a superior officer right there. Maybe Noah should ask Tam to stare the snorlax awake, legend does say that whenever someone wake sup in the middle of the night it is because they feel like they are being watched, creepy but true. Noah would slowly turn around from the window after receiving the permission to mess around with the food and thankfully to grab himself a drink, that being the first thing he would do. Grabbing a water bottle and chugging it like it was the last day of his life.

"What to do? What to doooooo!?" Noah would stare at the open fridge trying to think of something to make, it had to be something with good enough smell to wake up a pokemon, he didn't actually know what Snorlaxes preferred eating so it had to just be general good. The easy choices were to use enough spices to spruce up the food and that was exactly what Noah would have to do, especially after finding some curry. "Perfect!" Thankfully they had all the normal stuff available which made sense since some Rangers probably had no time to cook for themselves at home.

A splash of oil in a pan, the sound of chopping, the sizzling of something in a pan. Noah had chopped up some Figy Berry and thrown in the hot pan with oil in it to bring out the spicy flavor out and to soften the fruit up. As the fruit started acquiring a bit of caramel texture Noah would pour the gravy into the pan to heat it up along of the Figy. The idea of using the Figy was due to it being one of te spicy Berries so it would give the curry which was already heavily seasoned a spicy kick. In a bowl Noah would put some leftover heated rice and then pour the freshly warmed up curry next to it and take it out outside to see the results.

There was more in the kitchen if anyone else would want to try it but this specific bowl was for the slumbering Snorlax. "Wait! HE MOVED!" Noah would scream internally as he realized that the Snorlax had moved in it's sleep. Shaking his head trying to not think too much on the wasted opportunity. "Here goes nothing!" The boy would say waving the bowl of curry in front of Snorlax's face hoping for a positive outcome. All in all if that didn't work him and Tam had food ready for the day.

Noah hadn't exactly thought it trough that he was making hot and spicy food during one of the hottest days of the year, he had been just used to it from being inside the kitchen constantly so seasonal food wasn't exactly a strange concept, ice cream in the winter, soup in the summer. Not like he could stop people from requesting those due to the weather outside. Regardless, maybe they could go get some ice cream at the beach later on something akin to patrol? Who knew, Tam looked like a very serious individual for ice cream.

"Some say I cook way too much actually... My family owns a restaurant in the upper district! You should come by some time, I could always fix a nice Ranger discount for you!" Noah would say with a kind smile, he was sure his parents would understand even though that was not the life they had wanted for Noah. He had guessed Tam had some kind of file on him, maybe the man just had been too busy to go around checking pieces of papers.

Noah would take a few short steps back as the Snorlax started sniffing the air, thanking Arceus for that because what would happen next showed Noah that he could have lost his fingers. He was in shock to say the least, The snorlax had pretty much snatched the food away and fed itself in the blink of an eye, while asleep!? Noah barely knew what had fully happened!

"Uh... Thank you for the warning there! You might had just saved my fingers." Noah would say still having his jaws open in awe. The now messy Snorlax was still asleep and Noah's plan had literally went down a bottomless pit. "I'm guessing that doesn't count, right?" Noah would say taking a few steps back again, laggy brain reaction from the shock most likely. "That was the ace up my sleeve..." He was sure he had to come up with another plan before the sun melted them all away into human puddles.
